Technical problems have stopped trading on the Australian futures and options market as the operator tries to resolve the error.
The Australian Securities Exchange stopped the trading at about 1000 AEDT on its ASX24 platform after discovering a hardware problem.
The market operator said it was trying to rectify the issue.
Futures and options trading allows investors to buy and sell assets at an agreed date or price in the future.Â
They may trade in agricultural and energy assets like wheat and oil, as well as shares and interest rates.
The more commonly used trading platform for shares, ASX Trade, was unaffected.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission last year ordered experts to review the stock exchange system after a lengthy outage on November 16, 2020.
Experts were also asked to oversee the replacement of the system used to record transactions, CHESS, which is due in April next year.
