The CFA was called to a hay bale fire north of Kyabram this morning.

The blaze was on McEwen Rd between Sinclair Rd and Graham Rd.

With the day’s weather being unpredictable, tankers from Girgarre and Tongala were called, as well as three of Kyabram’s tankers.

Authorities say between 300 and 500 square hay bales were alight.

The fire was reported at 8:37am and was under control by 9:18am.

The site is now under the watchful eye of the property owners.

It is predicted that the hay bales will continue to burn until Thursday.

A haystack caught fire just north of Kyabram this morning, prompting a swift response from emergency services.

About 300 square bales are burning at the site on McEwen Rd.

Eight vehicles are tackling the blaze, which authorities say started about 9am and could burn for another 48 hours.

Although haystack fires are typically contained and less likely to spread extensively, they do tend to generate significant amounts of smoke.

Emergency responders are working diligently to prevent further escalation and mitigate the impact on the surrounding area.

Nearby residents are advised to monitor the VicEmergency app for updates.

Residents are also advised to be aware of the smoke generated by the blaze and take necessary precautions, such as closing windows and doors, to minimise exposure.
