The Gladstone Hotel in Dookie hosted a Heart Health Forum on Monday, November 18.

The event was attended by nearly 40 local people who came to hear a presentation by cardiologist Dr Jennifer Coller, an engaging speaker who shared several stories that covered a wide range of heart health issues.

Throughout her presentation, she emphasised the importance of regular check-ups, exercise and knowing what to do in an emergency.

“Don’t ever hesitate,” she said to attendees.

The mildest symptoms should be followed by an immediate 000 phone call for an ambulance.

Dr Coller also highlighted the critical need to take prescribed medications as directed.

There were many questions and discussions about forming a ‘walking group’ and the importance of coming together as a community to support one another.

Looking ahead to 2025, there is a proposal for a community CPR course at the Dookie hotel.

The evening was \supported by a financial grant from Greater Shepparton City Council.

Dookie and Devenish are well known for their contributions to the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.
