The Shepparton Art Museum has announced the official closing celebration of the “After the Rain” exhibition.
The exhibition, featuring the creative endeavours of selected artists from Echuca-based arts group Tuesday Junction, offers a unique glimpse into their experiences during the 2022 flood event that profoundly affected the region.
“After the Rain” stands as the 2023 SAM EOI exhibition, a platform that allows local artists, curators, creative practitioners, and community groups to propose and present their ongoing projects within the SAM Community Gallery.
This initiative is made possible through an open call and application process, allowing for a dynamic, community-driven gallery.
The closing celebration, scheduled for Saturday, October 14, will include a panel discussion with artists Jill Kenley, Anne Mawson, Bronwyn Morton, Carolyn Rolls, Penny Silver, Rebecca Wells, Kerry Williams, and SAM Curator of Community Caroline Esbenshade.
“This closing event offers our community an excellent opportunity to celebrate the passion and talent of the Tuesday Junction artists while reflecting on our collective resilience in the aftermath of last year’s floods,” Ms Esbenshade said.
“We warmly invite as many people as possible to support our local creatives and join us for an afternoon filled with art, conversations, and connections.”
Here the artists will explore their individual artistic practices and their collective reflections on the flood disaster through their creative expressions.
If you want to expand your artistic skills, Tuesday Junction artists Bronwyn Morton and Penny Silver will also lead a hands-on workshop titled “Colliding on Canvas with Penny Silver and Bronwyn Morton.”
In this workshop, on the morning of the exhibition celebration, participants will receive expert guidance on creating mixed-media artworks inspired by the artists’ practices.
