Dance Illusions concert thrills huge crowd

Dancing the night away: Dancers show their moves on stage.

Dance Illusions held its annual concert on November 25, with students lighting up the Kyabram Plaza Theatre stage.

Some 800 audience members watched the students dance their hearts out in a spectacular show.

‘All of the Lights’ showcased the 230 dance students with their variety of styles, including baby ballerina, mini acro, kinder dance, ballet, contemporary, funk, tap, jazz, musical theatre and acrobatics.

Dance Illusions was able to set the scene and ensure all the students shone on stage with help from Matthew Burt from MCB Tech Production, who brought in 20 different sets of lights.

Air time: A student showcases a new trick.

“I was extremely proud of all our students and loved watching my staff’s choreography come to life,” owner and teacher Melissa Keenan said.

“With so many students, it really is a team effort — and it looks like next year will be even bigger, with enrolments flying in.”

Holding hands and having fun: These young students are excited to be on stage.

With the students working hard year-round to not only put on an amazing performance but to also improve their skills, the concert was a massive hit.

The excitement of families, students and teachers was palpable inside the theatre.

‘All of the Lights’ on them: Students literally support one another.

“It’s so great to be back in the theatre and running our concerts like normal again,” Ms Keenan said.

“We are so lucky to have such a beautiful venue in our town for the students and audience members to gain the true theatre experience.”
