Participants in the 2024 Fairley Leadership Program recently visited Parliament House in Canberra, hosted by Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell.

The visit included discussions with several members of parliament, giving the group insights into federal politics and the varied paths that led each MP to their roles.

“Parliament House is a house for everyone, and it was a privilege to host the Fairley cohort,” Mr Birrell said.

“Every MP has had a unique leadership journey and has a huge amount of knowledge to share with inspiring leaders.”

Mr Birrell, a 2013 graduate of the program run by Goulburn Murray Community Leadership, facilitated the event, which included a question and answer session covering topics such as motivations for entering politics and advice for regional community leadership.

“Every MP has had a unique leadership journey and has a huge amount of knowledge to share with aspiring leaders,” he said.

“I wanted the Fairley cohort to have a memorable experience in our nation’s capital and hear directly from a variety of our country’s leaders.

“Regardless of our different positions and robust conversations in the chamber, there’s a lot of bipartisan work that goes on in Parliament House behind the scenes, and this is an example of that.”
