A packed house and a step back in time.

About 80 people attended the grand opening of Shepparton’s History Hub, located at the Scout Hall adjacent to the Shepparton Heritage Centre.

“We could not fit another person. We even had kids sitting on the floor,” Shepparton Heritage Centre treasurer Kristy Rudd said.

“It was a really great response.”

This marked not only the grand opening but also the revelation of the extensive News Archives, showcasing local history dating back to the early 1900s.

The hub offers research opportunities through its database, as well as the family history group database.

“Between the records we’ve got we can help people find more information on their family,” Ms Rudd said.

There is a cost, depending on the extent of research and the time needed; however, Ms Rudd said the organisation wanted to be inclusive and that the fee would not break the bank.

The hub is open to the public every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 1pm or via appointment.
