Christmas spirit: Year 3 students Lila Demay (left) and Ava Gilby singing in the St Mary’s Primary School choir at Carols in the Park in Mooroopna.

Several hundred people turned out for Mooroopna’s Carols in the Park on the John Gray Oval on Saturday, December 10.

Only a month earlier, the oval had been a lake during the floods.

Although working with short notice, the Mooroopna Kiwanis Club pressed ahead and conducted a scaled-down version of the carols night; the first in three years thanks to COVID-19 cancellations.

The weather smiled on the gathering, while local artists and choirs kept everyone entertained.

Singing with attitude: Henry, Rosielee and Alfred Dowdy, from Mooroopna, dressed up for the carols night.
Crowd: Hundreds turned out for Carols in the Park on Saturday evening.
On song: The choir from Mooroopna St Mary’s Primary School.
Singing: Former state Member for Shepparton Jeanette Powell jointly hosted the carols night and sang White Christmas.
Star quality: Dancers from the Goulburn Valley Academy of Ballet performed two songs to open the carols night.
