Tomorrow evening, seven of the region’s artists are uniting for one cause: to support the work of GV Hospice Care.

Held at GV Hospice Care on 102 Balaclava Rd, Shepparton, the exhibition spotlights local artists and raises funds for hospice care in the region.

But that’s not all — every piece of art will be up for grabs, ranging from digital prints to originals, valued at thousands of dollars, with a percentage going to GV Hospice.

In addition to showcasing a variety of art styles and mediums, the exhibition will feature an art auction as a highlight of the evening.

McKellars Picture Framing owner and convenor of the event Stuart Gowty said the artists had generously donated works to be auctioned, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards the hospice.

“It’s an opportunity for people to come in and see some of the incredible talent we have here in the region,” he said.

“It’s also a fundraiser for GV Hospice Care — the guys at GV Hospice do a great job, so we want to help them out.”

Local artists Tank and Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta and Wemba Wemba man Tom Day will feature their works in the exhibition.

“Check out a nice little collection of local art, made by some really good artists and also to support the hospice, to support a great charity,” Tank said.

Mr Day said the exhibition was also a good chance for all the local artists in the region to be seen together.

“We’re all doing various things, and we’re all professional artists, but the majority of our work, we sort of do it outside the region as well,” he said.

“So it’s a nice chance to come back home and actually showcase together for a really good positive cause that affects everyone.”

Mr Gowty said the event would feature diverse artwork, from surrealism and oil paintings to prints and sculptures.

“We have a whole lot, and from a pricing point of view, we cover the whole spectrum,” he said.

“There are things on there that we have for sale for a few hundred dollars, and there will probably be pieces up there for six, seven or $8000 for some of the originals, so we should be able to cater for most people.”

Art lovers can purchase pieces, some being digital prints that can be reproduced for multiple buyers.

Alongside the art, guests can enjoy drinks, finger food and the music of Nigel Parson.

GV Hospice Care president Jeanette Powell thanked the artists for their support.

“I would like to sincerely thank and and acknowledge the wonderful local artists who are each donating one of their paintings to auction,” Mrs Powell said.

“As well as donating a portion of the sale of any paintings (on display) to hospice.”

The event runs from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on tomorrow, and entry is free.
