The Shepparton Showgrounds Multi-purpose Pavilion will house another community screening of the Women’s Fifa World Cup as Australia takes on England at 8pm tomorrow, August 16.

After a great turnout for Australia’s nail-biting victory over France on Saturday, August 12, Shepparton will no doubt be gearing up for another big night as the Matildas take on the odds-on favourite to win the World Cup for a spot in the grand final.

Knocking out England in the semis would certainly make fans across the nation dare to dream.

The dream of achieving Australia's first world championship in the same year it is hosting the tournament is becoming increasingly tangible with each passing day.

However, as the saying goes, one game at a time.

The gates will open from 6.30pm, with pre-game kids’ soccer activities for families to enjoy.

Mayor Shane Sali encouraged community members to come to the showgrounds with the family and experience a historic moment for women’s soccer.

“The Matildas already made history by making it to the semi-finals for the first time and we couldn’t be prouder,” he said.

“We invite the community to come along with the family, watch the game on the big screen and have a great time.

“Instead of watching the game at home, come and cheer on the Matildas and local talent Cortnee Vine.”

Entry to the event is free.

Attendees are asked to bring their own chair and rug up to keep warm.

Parking will be available at the showgrounds for attendees, with entry via Fryers St.
