The News went and spoke to some of the region’s best lawn bowls players on a sunny morning this week.
Here’s what they had to say about the sport.
Val Gibbs
I’ve been playing for about 10 years.
My husband loved lawn bowls, so I joined in with him and I found I thoroughly enjoyed playing it too.
Geoff Coad
I’ve been playing for 3 years.
My mates introduced me to it, and I found I really enjoy the competition of it.
Howard Tonkin
I’ve been playing for 20 years.
My next-door neighbour asked me to play with him, I have been playing ever since.
Alan Davis
I’ve been playing for 10 years.
I love the good company and my surroundings.
Ian George
I have been playing for 50 to 60 years.
I used to play it on carpet with my parents, and then I played at Kyabram for 20 years.
