Even more children across the world will have their Christmas wishes come true, thanks to Shepparton Christian College.
Students at the school have once again joined the annual Operation Christmas Child donation drive run by humanitarian aid organisation Samaritan’s Purse.
As part of the drive, students at the college have been making shoeboxes filled with various gifts and items that will be sent around the world to children in need this Christmas.
This year, Shepparton Christian College topped last year’s donation high of 110, with students donating 125 boxes to children.
Two year 8 students, Maddison Gurnick and Maddelyn Fletcher, both donated multiple boxes this year, with Maddison putting together eight boxes, and Maddelyn making five.
“We get to make boxes filled with lots of toys and fun things, and we get to send it over to people who don’t have as much and people who need things like that,” Maddelyn said.
“It’s filled with toys like a wow item or a doll or some hygiene products because they don’t have access to things like that, as well as stuff for schooling, so notebooks and pencils,” Maddison said.
“It’s pretty cool, like not everyone gets the opportunity to help people out, so go take advantage of it.”
