On Wednesday evening, June 21, the Fairley Youth Leadership Program marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the graduation of eight emerging leaders from Greater Shepparton.

The event, attended by community members and local leaders, highlighted the remarkable journey undertaken by the cohort in just four months.

Introduced for the first time this year, the program aimed to connect, nurture and empower young leaders in Greater Shepparton, enabling them to make a positive impact in their local communities and regions.

The Fairley Youth Leadership Program is a collaborative initiative between Goulburn Murray Community Leadership and Greater Shepparton City Council, and receives support from VicHealth.

Goulburn Murray Community Leadership programs and operations officer Chloe Armstrong expressed her congratulations to the first group of young leaders who successfully completed the program, as well as her gratitude to members of the community for their support of the initiative.

“The group’s dedication and commitment to their growth as community leaders has demonstrated the value of continued investment in the development of young people in our regional communities,” she said.

During the graduation dinner, the graduating group had the opportunity to address the attendees as keynote speakers.

They were also joined by guest speakers Goulburn Murray Community Leadership program and strategy manager Vicki Scott as well as City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali.
