Ho, ho, ho, the festive season is upon us! As we settle into December, Shepparton’s end-of-year, start-of-summer, most busiest time of the year kicks off, with plenty of fun to be had.

Friday

SAM Spotlight: Aleisa Miksad Opening

Tonight Shepparton Art Museum presents the opening of Aleisa Miksad: Between Scylla and Charybdis | Amphora. In a sea of coils and spikes, Kialla artist Aleisa Miksad’s work takes viewers back to the Ancient Greeks, while maintaining a contemporary flair. From 5.30pm to 7pm attendees can see these stunning ceramics for the very first time.

Secret Garden Gigs

The Goulburn Valley’s best kept secret is getting summer under way with an array of live music at the magnificent Dookie Quarry. This year’s line-up features local talent Tom Harrington, Ella Hooper, Liv Cartledge, Sam + Sam and The Deans of Soul. Gates open at 4pm and the entertainment begins at 4.45pm. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Cost: From $90, free entry for children under 12

Ucandance presents Hold My Hand and Ready Set Imagine

Shepparton’s Ucandance presents its annual dance concerts Hold My Hand and Ready Set Imagine. Primary, secondary and adult students will showcase their dance routines in Hold My Hand, featuring an array of genres from ballet and jazz, to hip-hop and acro. Four shows are on offer, at 2pm and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Ready Set Imagine will see preschoolers perform, some for the very first time. A single show is on Saturday and Sunday at 10am.

Luv Live Bands ft Reece Mastin

Continuing on this weekend’s performance line-up is 2011 X Factor winner Reece Mastin. The Aussie Hotel will provide the drinks and Reece Mastin will bring the rock ’n’ roll entertainment from 5pm to 10pm, with hits such as Shout it Out, Rockstar and Shut up and Kiss Me.

Moira Miniature Railway

It’s the first Sunday of the month and that can only mean one thing — the Moira Miniature Railway is back. From 10am to 3pm all family members can hop aboard the train for a special ride around the beautiful grounds of Emerald Bank.

Tongala Donkey Shelter Open Day

The Donkey Shelter at Tongala is hosting an Open Day for the whole family to enjoy. The shelter invites locals to come and meet some of their beautiful donkeys. A grooming yard and donkey-themed stalls will feature around the property, as well as a sausage sizzle for hungry visitors.
