GROW Greater Shepparton and Goulburn Murray Local Learning & Employment Network have come together to assist local businesses and young people connect for employment.

Both organisations have developed an online Youth Tab, which helps young people find a job around the Goulburn Valley.

There are many jobs on offer, and both organisations want to ensure young people take up these opportunities and stay in the region — that they know there is a future for them here.

GMLLEN executive officer Bec Costa-Lowe said the Youth Tab had great tips to help young people find the right job.

“There are also great tips and tools to assist young people to create an outstanding resume, how to feel comfortable in an interview, and looking at local industries that are hiring right now,” Bec said.

She said if young people wanted to join, they should go to growgreatershepparton.com.au and click on the Youth Tab and start searching for their ideal job.

For employers, it’s free to join — and you are supported by a local GROW Greater Shepparton staff member, Tawnee Vocale (email tawnee.vocale@growgs.com.au) who can assist you with placing your job vacancies in the best way to attract young people.

“The importance of connecting young people to industry throughout their school year is crucial, it allows exposure and also allows the young person to make better-informed career decisions,” Tawnee said.

“We can take away some of the pressures, and by creating a specific Youth Tab, tailored with entry level jobs, we can make job hunting easier for young people.”
