Art lovers will enjoy a new exhibition that celebrates artists from the past and present at Kyabram Art Gallery.

Eight current and past resident artists of the Gallery on Ovens in Wangaratta are showcasing their unique pieces in Kyabram under the exhibit Side by Side – Past and Present Artists until May 31.

The exhibit features north-east Victorian artists Sue Hourigan, Kate Jenvey, Wenda Grant, Sandy Wingate, Ninetta Santora, Joan Mullarvey, Sian Lim and Janet Leith.

Visiting artist Ms Hourigan is excited about the prospect of bringing hers and seven other talented artist’s works to Kyabram.

“We’ve kind of brought a fairly good cross sections of art together in one exhibition,” Ms Hourigan said.

“We’re fairly known in the north-east ear of Victoria, so bringing the exhibit to Kyabram will cast the net a little wider and hopefully get some exposure.’’

Art gallery volunteer and co-ordinator Anne Churches hopes the exhibit will bring people to the gallery to check out both the featured artists and other pieces.

“There’s a lot of different artists using different methods with prints, paintings, cards; both non-realistic or realistic – all very good work,” Ms Churches said.

“We try to show as much of the local artists, as well as visiting artists like this.’’

All of the work on display is for sale, including paintings, prints and cards.

Make sure to head down to the town hall art gallery and check out the incredible work by the artists in the exhibition, and you may see yourself walking away with a one-of-a-kind piece.
