Never fear, love is here

Lessons in love: Fall head over heels for the participants of the ABC’s Better Date Than Never, which starts on Tuesday.

From the people that brought you Love on the Spectrum, a new show on the ABC will turn even the most disillusioned and cynical into hopeless romantics.

Better Date Than Never is a six-part docu-series following a miscellaneous group of singles that could not be more different.

These characters do have one thing in common though — when it comes to dating, their total amount of knowledge and experience is zero, zilch, nada.

Each Better Date Than Never participant has a story to tell on why they’ve prolonged dipping their toe into the dating pool.

For the first time ever, these singles want to know what love is and they want the producers to show them.

Ah yes, love, what is it good for?

Absolutely everything.

Also good is the ABC’s representation on television.

The promotional trailer introduced us to the love-seekers featuring a young woman with Down syndrome, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, an international student and a woman diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Featured on the trailer was Nirvali, unable to leave her house due to social anxiety, yet she warmed hearts already by confessing her wish to be in love “even if it hurts”.

Tired of the same old relationship shows with actors or ‘influencers’ clinging to their 10 seconds of fame?

Better Date Than Never will restore your faith in humanity and if it doesn’t make you say ‘awww’ at some point, I’ll quit my job.

Better Date Than Never premieres Tuesday, January 24 at 8pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.
