The Shepparton Brass and Wind Band are back again with their annual concert this month.

On Sunday, October 20, the band invites the audience to experience local music with tunes ranging from Beatles melodies to Wicked medleys.

“The band is actually playing particularly well at the moment, we are very lucky to have this quality of musicians in Shepparton,” band president and euphonium player Bill Scott said.

“I’m getting a lot of pleasure out of how the band is playing, and our director has chosen some terrific music, things from shows like The Lion King and Wicked as well as marches and things that bands are known for.”

Band secretary and percussionist Leona Gibbs encouraged community members to grab their tickets while they could.

“Audiences will be entertained by different types of music, they get to see a live band made up of local musicians from the community,” she said.

“This year we’ve upped the standard and changed the ticket structure — tickets are available from the box office ahead of the concert.”

The concert will also feature songs performed at the state championships earlier in the year when they took home the C-grade crown and placed third in B-grade.

“The state championships were a great success from my point of view,” conductor Lachlan Gallacher said.

“It was a massive effort by the band to rehearse and prepare two lots of music for each grade but they rose to the challenge.

“The audience will get the chance to hear the two programs we performed at Hawthorn in the state championships.”

Riverlinks Eastbank will host the concert, which will feature solo and ensemble items.
