Whether you like cars, bikes, trucks, tractors or boats, one motor festival in the north-east has it all and much more.
The Swanpool Motor Festival, run by the town’s volunteer Albert Heaney Oval Committee, raises funds to maintain the oval and its facilities.
The festival will take place on Sunday, March 10, from 8am to 3pm.
A festival spokesperson said it had been six years since the first Swanpool Motor Festival.
“Since then, we have seen entrant numbers increase from 30 to over 400,” the spokesperson said.
This festival is unique in that there is no judging of vehicles.
Prizes donated by mainly local businesses are drawn out of a hat and awarded to the owners.
Every vehicle — car, motorcycle, truck, tractor or boat — has the same chance to win a prize.
Last year’s prize pool was just under $8000.
This year, the prize pool will still be in the thousands, with a first prize of $500 cash to be awarded to one of the owners at the end of the day.
The festival also includes a swap meet and market stalls along with food vans, coffee, drinks and ice-cream.
One of the highlights of the festival is the live music provided by local band Rattler, who entertains the crowd, allowing them to enjoy a relaxed day looking at the display vehicles.
Attendees can also enjoy a meal on the picturesque country football oval situated at the base of the high country, with food available in the club rooms or at one of several food vendors.
