Get Groving: Sesame Street Circus Spectacular is tumbling into Shepparton.

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your weekend, look no further than our own backyard: the Goulburn Valley.

Friday

Sesame Street Circus Spectacular

Finally, we can tell you exactly how to get to Sesame Street. You may not have guessed it but the only thing that can top the Circus Spectacular is including all fan favourites from the beloved Sesame Street. In a 90-minute spectacular, Elmo, Grover and the Cookie Monster too will perform at the Shepparton Showgrounds.

The shows run across the next three weeks, with this week’s to begin on Friday, July 22 at 6.30pm. For more information and bookings, visit https://www.sesamestreetcircus.com.au/

Saturday

The Winter Sessions

The small towns live music hall tour is making its third stop at Kialla Central Hall. What better time to get cosy under candlelight and the sweet serenade of acoustic music than in this chilled winter? Braden Pullen and Fortessima will perform from 5.30pm; tickets are available via https://www.thewintersessions.com/

Shepparton Farmers' and Specialty Market

Fresh produce, cute knick-knacks, delicious treats — there’s so much treasure to discover. Hosted on the fourth Saturday of every month, the market will begin at 8.30am and run until 1.30pm at the Shepparton Showgrounds on High St.

Shepparton Italian Social Club

Come along to a valuable information session for members of the Italian community.

Italian Consul General Hanna Pappalardo and representatives from various service providers — the Italian Consulate of Melbourne, COMITES, ACLI, INAS, COASIT and INCA — are coming from Melbourne to meet and speak with the Italian community.

The information session will cover topics such as services provided by the Italian Consulate, Italian and Australian pensions and aged care. There will also be the opportunity for Italian citizens to renew their passports and for Italian passport and citizenship inquiries.

The session will be at the Shepparton Italian Social Club, starting at noon. Entry is free. The information session will be followed by light refreshments. All interested are welcome.

Hockey Victoria Premier League Day

The Goulburn Valley Hockey Association is pleased to welcome Essendon and Camberwell Hockey Clubs to Shepparton for the Cardamone Real Estate Hockey Victoria Premier League Day.

After the success of the Premier League Day in 2019, the next instalment of the Hockey Victoria Premier League Day in Shepparton is the most exciting one yet.

Camberwell are joining Essendon, with both sides in the top 8, while the women's clash at 3pm is a top-of-the-table clash.

Essendon has Connor Holland, Nathan McBain, Xavier McBain (Strikers Hockey Club), Lewis Citroen (Benalla Hockey Club), Liam Schreck (SYC Hockey Club) in its Premier League and reserves squads while Camberwell has Sam Lowndes (Echuca Moama Hockey Club) in its squads, while on the women's side Hockeyroo development players Laura Barden, Kristina Bates and Sophie Taylor, with internationals Joanne Peeters (Belgium) and Hazuki Yuda (Japan), wear the tangerine and royal blue of Camberwell, while Essendon has HC Melbourne players Aisling Utri and Olivia Colasurdo, with Belgian Maartje Goderie, to call on, as well as Tess Palubiski from Rutherglen.

The Men's Premier League match commences at 1.30pm, while the Women's Premier League match starts at 3pm. The reserves matches will be played on the second pitch.

Beneath the Wisteria

Shepparton will have a virtual visit by climate change-concerned general practitioner Kate Wylie.

Dr Wylie will join via Zoom.

The South Australian doctor has long been concerned how climate change is impacting on the public and although she doesn’t raise the issue without prompting from her patients, it does come up opportunistically.

She says that if a patient mentions their concerns about asthma, she can then explain how climate change can worsen that difficulty.

The Zoom event featuring Dr Wylie is free, starts at 11am, lasts for about an hour and there will be a Q&A session. The session can be accessed at https://bit.ly/3uXApgt

Questions about the event should be directed to Beneath the Wisteria convenor Robert McLean at 0400 502 199 or via email to r.mclean7@icloud.com
