The Australian Ballet will be bringing a program of classical favourites and contemporary pieces on tour to celebrate its 60th year as Australia’s national ballet company and more than 40 years of touring their repertoire across Australia.

The 2023 Australian Ballet On Tour will feature Act III of The Sleeping Beauty.

Choreographed by the Australian Ballet artistic staff after Marius Petipa, this excerpt includes the Grand Pas de Deux from Act III.

Act III tells the timeless fairy tale of Princess Aurora, cursed to fall asleep on her 16th birthday for 100 years before being awoken by true love’s kiss.

Featuring Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s famous score alongside dazzling tutus and beloved characters, The Sleeping Beauty will leave you spellbound.

The program also features two contemporary pieces; Lucas Jervies’ The Vow, framed through the universally recognised scene of a wedding.

The Vow explores the complications of love and the idea that partnership is a choice, not a destiny and a brand-new work, created by renowned choreographer Stephanie Lake to commemorate our diamond jubilee.

The show will be hosted by Riverlink’s WestSide in Mooroopna on Tuesday, August 1 and Wednesday, August 2.

To purchase tickets visit Riverlink’s website or phone the box office on 5832 9511.
