Dancing queens (and kings) will cry “Mamma Mia!” when an ABBA tribute band hits town in October.
SOS: The Australian ABBA Tribute Show will be at the Rich River Golf Club on Saturday, October 29, at 9pm.
Rich River Golf Club is a favourite destination, says Sam Bennett, who performs as Björn Ulvaeus.
“It has a really fun crowd and a great room upstairs,” he said.
“There’s always plenty of room to dance and you’ll always get Agnetha and Frida coming down to the dance floor to show some moves as well.
“We do love to include the audience and make sure that they're all up and dancing.”
Sam said attendees can expect a high energy show, with all your favourite ABBA songs.
“We leave no stone unturned, if there’s a favourite of yours, you’ll likely hear that song,” he said.
“Dancing Queen, Rock Me, Knowing Me Knowing You, Lay All Your Love On Me.”
The band members really take on the roles of the original ABBA members they’re portraying.
“In SOS, we really try and try to give the experience of what ABBA was in the 70s and early 80s,” Sam said.
“That’s what’s so wonderful about ABBA, it’s so multi-generational and universal.
“You’ll have people that saw ABBA in 1977 at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and they’ll have their favourites.
“Then you'll have people that were born after the year 2000 who have grown up watching the Mamma Mia musical and hearing all their songs on TikTok and Instagram.
“The favourite songs continually change, and it’s so wonderful to see people light up when you play the first couple of bars of a song.
“You see their eyes light up and run to the centre of the dance floor like ‘this is my song!’. It’s a really special part of it.”
