Tongala, or ‘Tonny’ as the locals like to call it, is a small town with so much to offer visitors.

Tongala hosts many annual volunteer-led community events and attractions, and the town offers all the services, businesses and hospitality needed for a great day out.

STREET ART STUDIO

Located at the Village Square on Mangan St and throughout Tongala, this open-air art gallery comprises more than 50 murals.

Completed by Tongala street artists Murray Ross, Jill Conway and Teena Savage, along with the local Lions Club, has turned the township into something special for adults and children alike.

Murals depict the town’s history, significant historical events, mythical adventures and many birds and animals.

AUSTRALIAN LIGHTHORSE MEMORIAL

This commanding tribute in honour of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment is situated on the shire lawns at the corner of Henderson Rd and Mangan St.

Follow the pathway to the War Memorial for Cavalry (Vietnam), which is painted in sand colour with footprints representing a Light Horseman.

The Avenue of Honour, a memorial to the Armoured Corps servicemen who lost their lives in the Vietnam War, is situated next to the railway line and offers a walkway through to the Centurion Tank.

Visitors to the memorial can visualise the transitions from the former Light Horse Units of World War I and the journey from their military demise from 1918 onwards until the arrival of a more modern ear of mechanised cavalry in the 1960s.

TONGALA TOGETHER - OFF-LEASH DOG PARK COMING SOON

An off-the-leash dog park will hopefully be opened sometime in the first half of 2025.

Located near Brose Reserve, the dog park is funded by Campaspe Shire Council and is in the final stages of concept planning.
