THE PORT OF ECHUCA CAN BE ENJOYED WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY ALL THROUGH THE WINTER, WITH PLENTY OF INDOOR AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES TO IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THIS HISTORIC PRECINCT.

The interpretative centre, with its audiovisual models, displays, and special exhibits, is the starting point for your voyage of discovery.

It tells the story of Australia’s inland river system and the history of the paddle steamer trade.

Through the winter, you will likely find an engineer who is more than happy to chat about the power of steam, stoking the boiler in the Kevin Hutchinson Steam Shed.

The deckhand, engineer, and captain will welcome you on board PS Pevensey for your one-hour paddle steamer cruise.

The engineer aboard the PS Pevensey has the best spot on the boat to keep warm while they stoke the boiler on a winter’s day.

Feel the heat rise from the boiler while you sit undercover, sipping a hot drink from the licensed bar and galley onboard.

Take in the scenery, watching the mist rise from the river as the picture-perfect landscape passes by.

The captain’s commentary will inform you of points of interest along the Murray River, while emphasising steam’s important role in developing the Port of Echuca.

The PS Pevensey, the largest boat in the Port of Echuca’s fleet, is moored below the meticulously restored historic wharf.

The PS Adelaide and the PS Alexander Arbuthnot also make up the fleet.

The nationally heritage-listed Echuca Wharf is the facility’s heart and allows visitors to discover a true Australian icon.

Daily guided tours allow visitors to relive the area’s pre-federation history with insights and amusing anecdotes from our guides.

Experience the best views along the Murray River from the top of the Echuca Wharf.

The whole family can explore the kids’ space in the cargo shed above and below the wharf.

The July school holidays will be buzzing with activities organised in and around the Port of Echuca for the whole family.

As the Winter Blues Festival fills the air with soulful, vibrant music that warms attendees’ hearts during the chilly months, the Port of Echuca will come alive as part of the festival.

Winter is the best time to visit and explore this historical precinct, making memories that will last a lifetime.
