Standing around Shepparton’s Victoria Park Lake, more than 60 local residents remembered the friends, family and partners they had lost.

The crowd was there for Neffy’s Walk: Let’s Talk on Saturday, April 29, a suicide prevention walk, put together by Shepparton man Steve ‘Neffy’ Neff, who has worked with Lifeline as a volunteer.

The evening began with speeches from organisations such as Lifeline and StandBy, as well as community members with personal experience with losing someone they love to suicide.

Ryan Black sang Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, before the event’s attendees prepared to walk.

Led by Shepparton Search and Rescue, the participants walked in solidarity until dusk, when they lit candles to light up their path and continued on their journey.
