The Benalla Pony Club’s reins were shortened in style with Maddie Van der Zalf on Jasper being joined by Summer Symes on Ruby (centre) and Rylee Dowell at the ready on Arckie.
Sarah and Jack Preston from Shepparton treated their daughters Amelia, 4, and Charlie, 2, to the Dookie Show, where Amelia could not make up her mind what she had enjoyed the most. Dad listed them off: “The fire truck, the rides, the animals...”

Dookie came alive for the annual agricultural show at the weekend.

On Saturday, November 2, herds of people headed out to Dookie to enjoy the rides, chicken, sheep and cattle judging, as well as browse through the photography, cooking needlework and floral displays.

Children also competed for the highly sought-after titles with tiny tots, and show girls and boys.

Country News journalist Andy Wilson headed out to Dookie to capture all the family fun.

Olivia Akers won the Dookie Show's Miss Tween Showgirl.
Matt and Libby Hooper, from Shepparton, enjoyed their first Dookie Show with son Jamie, 1, and took in the calamity of the chook shed after seeing all the other animals.
The sideshow games pulled the usual crowd of competing children, overseen by knock-em-down maestro Rori. “It’s about seeing everyone having fun,” Rori said.
Shepparton rider Mietta Innes-Irons had a solid day atop Sir Helmut, the eight-year-old, 17 hand gelding, bringing home three wins, including Champion Open Hack. “I just love the Dookie Show – it was my first ever show 24 years ago,” Mietta said. She also once featured at the local netball club. “So Dookie has a special place in my heart.”
