Grahamvale Primary School switched into sports mode for its Olympic Day.

On Tuesday, August 6, an opening ceremony akin to the 2024 Paris Olympics (minus the rainfall) commenced the festivities, complete with handmade torches that lit up the foggy morning.

Sporting the colours of their respective flags — Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Philippines or Jamaica — each student geared up to compete for the gold.

They catapulted themselves forward in the sack race, defied gravity to clear hurdles, and ran so fast on the track one would believe they could walk on water.

As the games drew to a close, the school community gathered to enjoy a sausage sizzle organised by Grahamvale’s Parents’ Club.

The News photographer Rechelle Zammit roamed the school grounds to capture the action.
