It’s official. GV Pride’s hub is now open.

On Thursday, February 22, the ribbon was officially cut for the opening of the group’s headquarters, with a strong attendance.

With plans for it to be open four days a week, GV Pride president Deb Chumbley said they were looking forward to utilising the space more.

“This space will provide opportunities for our LGBTIQA+ people to come together, for our volunteers to gain skills in customer service, retail, events and mentoring and for people to enjoy a safe space where they can run workshops, socialise, do whatever they need to do,” Deb said.

The space will also be used for community groups and individuals to run forums, workshop sessions, games nights, craft activities and meetings for GV Pride and their associated groups.

Also speaking at the event was GV Pride member Tiani Hombsch, who since moving to the Goulburn Valley seven to eight years ago, has been involved with the organisation.

Tiani spoke on her experiences as a member and what the space meant for her.

“GV Pride is not just an organisation, it's my chosen family,” Tiani said.

“It's about friendships, leadership, volunteering, and many different things and I'm just amazed at how much we have evolved since I first came.

“When COVID hit and I'm on the NDIS and I lost all my face-to-face services so Damien and Jenny, back then, organised NDIS through GV Pride and we now have six clients through GV Pride and many carers and I wouldn't have been able to survive without that.

“I look forward to the exciting times being a part of GV Pride.”
