They may have been a week late, but Mooroopna Park Primary School students still celebrated big for NAIDOC Week.

On Friday, July 19, students participated in a range of activities that celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditions, including a big group project.

Students coloured and designed the Aboriginal flag, decorating it with their hand prints and boomerangs, while they learnt more about Indigenous culture.

NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. Held this year on July 7 to July 14, the theme was ‘Blak, Loud and Proud’, with celebrations taking place across the Goulburn Valley.

The News photographer Megan Fisher headed down to the school to capture all the fun.
