From the opening crescendo to the final note, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra inspired a possible next generation of future artists during its visit to Shepparton.

On Wednesday, April 24, the icons of classical music paid a visit to St Augustine’s Hall to perform to a lively audience of 150 regional primary school students.

Not only did they bring music to the students’ ears, they presented a challenge.

One by one, students took the podium.

With baton in hand, they were tasked with swinging, striking and signalling the beats.

The maestros-to-be stole the spotlight, and The News photographer Rechelle Zammit was behind the lens to capture their newfound confidence.
