Cake and memories were shared at the Shepparton East Country Women’s Association branch celebrated their 90th year.

On Thursday, December 5, current and past members joined together alongside representatives from the other Eastern Goulburn Valley Group branches and Goulburn Valley West Group at the Shepparton East Community Hall to celebrate the anniversary.

President Bev Cocks welcomed everyone to the celebration before secretary Ellen Cameron took the group through a trip down memory lane, detailing the history of the group dating back to 1934, through the wartimes and how the CWA helped the soldiers.

CWA Eastern Goulburn Valley Group president Helen Sands presented the branch with a certificate from the CWA of Victoria state president Jenny Nola to acknowledge the milestone.

Mrs Cocks said it was a fun afternoon of connecting and reuniting.

“It was a lovely social day with some friendships renewed from ex members and daughters from past members,” she said.

“It was a very nice afternoon, it went really well... with a lovely afternoon tea all done by Shepparton East CWA members.”

While the group currently only has seven members, Mrs Cocks said they are always looking for more.

“Anyone whose interested in joining can give me a ring on 0427 683 228,” she said.

News photographer Megan Fisher joined the celebration to snap up some pics.
