Mooroopna Children and Families Centre recently held an extra special storytime.

Local author Sarah Pope stopped by on Thursday, October 24, to read to the children her new book, Sammy the Street Sweeper.

Ms Pope’s picture book is about Sammy, a street sweeper, and his journey to help keep the streets nice and clean.

Children at the centre were invited to dress up as their favourite characters.

The storytime was part of Children’s Week, which recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

Children’s Week ran from Saturday, October 19 until Sunday, October 27, with this year’s theme being ‘Children have the right to a clean and safe environment’.

The Longmore family also gave each of the children at the service a copy of Ms Pope’s book to take home.

The News photographer Rechelle Zammit went along for the afternoon to snap some of the fun.
