Students and staff at Shepparton’s Sirius College took part in a colour fun run on Wednesday, November 9.

Year 4 student Sajaad Hameet said the fun run is a way to help the less fortunate and those “who don’t have as much money as us”.

The school raised $1939, with the money going towards building a water well in Cambodia.

The Year 3 class raised the most money of all the year levels, raising $600.

Classroom teacher and student representative council co-ordinator Ayse Aksu said it was a success and a “great way of making students and the community aware of the need”.

She said that every year the SRC held one humanitarian fundraiser.

This year they chose to support the Australian Relief Organisation, which initiated the construction of the water well.

“Raising money for the water well in Cambodia’’ was what Year 5 student Ridha Aboud was most looking forward to.

Year 6 student Humza Rafiee said the colour fun run was “a fun way to get students involved”.

News photographer Rechelle Zammit was there to capture the event.
