On the improve: The Bears have some areas of their game that need improving ahead of this weekend’s clash with Mansfield.

A date with Mansfield awaits Shepparton on Saturday in what will be the two sides’ second clash of the 2022 season.

The Bears’ loss to Mansfield in round five was a tough watch for supporters, as Ted Lindon’s outfit struggled to compete against the talented Eagles.

Thanks to GVL Data, we can identify one area of the contest that Lindon would have no doubt highlighted in the wash-up.

Shepparton went at a lowly 52 per cent disposal efficiency by foot in its 66-point defeat to the Eagles.

The Bears are ranked last in the Goulburn Valley League for their disposal by foot, with a season average of 55 per cent.

Mansfield, on the other hand, ranks first in the competition.

Chad Owens’ outfit averages 66 per cent efficiency by foot and has the ability to damage outfits on the rebound.

Which is exactly what happened in round five.

The Bears coughed up 10.10 (70) in turnovers, almost three-quarters of Mansfield’s overall 14.11 (95) score.
