Echuca’s co-captain Kane Morris put on an elite statistical performance in the Murray Bombers’ domination of Seymour in round 16.
Morris, Echuca’s star ruckman, has been one of the most dominant forces in the GVL all season, averaging 107.5 ranking points.
As part of Echuca’s best for round 15, Morris was vital in the middle for the Murray Bombers, notching 14 hit-outs, seven hit-outs to advantage, two clearances and one centre clearance, allowing his side to move the ball into their forward 50 quickly.
The big man was busy in the air, hanging on to six marks, five uncontested marks, two intercept marks and marks inside 50, respectively.
Morris bagged four goals because of this handy work and was tied for the most by a Murray Bomber in the match alongside Hugh Byrne.
Morris was deadly when he set his eyes on the sticks, kicking with 100 per cent goal accuracy.
He also proved quite helpful as a facilitator, with three goal assists, eight-goal involvements and thirteen score involvements on his day out.
These attacking numbers are a significant improvement compared to his season averages in 2024, with his goals increasing by 2.3, goal assists by 2.2, goal involvements by 3.8 and score involvements by a staggering 6.2.
Morris’s co-captain Will Monahan also put in a solid showing against the Lions, with 20 disposals, 11 marks, three clearances and two goals for a total of 99 ranking points.
Their dismantling of ninth-placed Seymour was a game to savour for both Murray Bombers’ leaders as they guide their team home for another strong finals campaign.
