Not much can be written about the quality of Chris Nield’s football that has not already been said.

The Mooroopna forward has been elite inside the forward 50 so far this season and with the power of GVL Data The News thought it was time to see where he sat on the leaderboards.

A well-renowned goal-kicking machine, Nield has kicked 45 goals in the 11 games so far this season, with a five-goal haul against Shepparton on Saturday helping continue a remarkable run of form.

Saturday afternoon’s performance was close to Nield’s average for the campaign, with him averaging four majors a game before the weekend’s action and currently sitting comfortably on top of the goal-kicking leaderboard.

Nield was right among the action inside the forward 50 on the weekend, taking eight marks inside the arc against the Bears, bringing his total to 67 for the season and bumping his average to six-a-game.

The forward also leads the competition in the amount of behinds scored, while his average of two contested marks a game is right up there with the best.

It is clear that Nield is vital to the success of Mooroopna this season and with the Cats right in the middle of the top six mix, a fit and firing Nield may help John Lamont’s side go deep into the finals.
