With gun Euroa on-baller Jacob Gleeson now set to miss the rest of the Goulburn Valley League season, one star talent has stepped up to the fold for the Magpies.
Smooth mover Ben Giobbi has answered the call to help shoulder the load in Gleeson’s absence and his recent exploits have been impressive to say the least.
Giobbi was a clear standout at the weekend in his side’s win over Mooroopna and was judged best afield.
The former VFL talent had a hand in just about everything and won the ball on the outside and inside.
Giobbi, who has kicked 21 goals in 2022, played more midfield minutes in the round 17 contest in what was no doubt a glimpse of what onlookers could expect in the next month.

Giobbi collected 27 disposals, 20 kicks and seven handballs, and went at a classy 70 per cent by foot and 100 per cent by hand.
Throw in nine clearances, seven inside-50 entries and two score assists, the talented midfielder had himself a day out.
If last week’s performance is any indication, Giobbi is primed for a big September.
