Brothers Hugh and Wil Hamilton have been critical players for Rochester’s senior squad in 2024, which has enjoyed great success and a guaranteed top-four finish.

While Hugh did not make his 2024 debut until round 11, his presence anchoring the midfield has been a welcome one, with Rochy winning three out of the four games he has played.

On the other hand, Wil has been the pinnacle of consistency for the Tigers, playing all 15 games thus far this season and kicking 29 goals, the 10th most in the competition.

Wil’s increase in offensive productivity, improving from five goals to 29, and Hugh’s big contribution in his debut season have gone a long way in bolstering Rochester from 10th place last season to third place this year.

Both brothers showed up again this week during a demolition job of GVL bottom feeders in Tatura.

Wil and Hugh accrued 23 and 28 disposals each, respectively, with both players working in the middle of the ground to facilitate the attack and push the ball forward for the Tigers.

Both brothers had 15 effective disposals. Hugh’s total disposal efficiency was a comfortable 54 per cent, while Wil was more accurate with his passes and kicks, notching a 65 per cent total disposal efficiency.

Speaking of working in the middle, Hugh had five centre clearances and 15 clearances for the game, effectively acquiring the ball out of the midfield for his side.

Meanwhile, Wil was cooking in the forward 50, grabbing six marks inside 50 to add to his 12 marks, three of which were contested.

The Hamilton siblings got involved upfront when it mattered, each lodging six-goal involvements, proving to be effective scorers and playmakers at the business end of the field.

Wil walked away with a trio of maximums and a behind in the contest while Hugh bagged a handy pair of goals for himself.

Both brothers found themselves on Rochester’s best list for their efforts against the Bulldogs, playing significant roles in the 107-point rout.

Taking care of business against weaker teams is vital for the Tigers. In round 16, they will face competition leaders and fierce rivals Echuca, who will be looking for revenge after Rochy handed it its only defeat of 2024.
