Feathers could fly in the Goulburn Valley League this weekend when Echuca hits the road to take on the Shepparton Swans.
With the Murray Bombers out to claim their 11th win of the season, the Swans will be hoping to cause an upset as they look to keep their slim finals chances alive.
One Swan Echuca will need to keep an eye on is gun midfielder Bryden Squire.
Squire is one of the premium midfielders in the competition and is the Swans’ leading disposal getter this year.
His 267 touches rank 10th in the league, and he is coming off a big game with 31 disposals against Shepparton United — his third game in a row with more than 30 touches.
Zac Banch will be another key name for the Swans — the onballer is leading his side with 128 contested possessions this season, the sixth most in the GVL overall, and his 51 inside 50s are the fifth most in the league.
Banch is also the leading goalscorer for the Swans this season, with 14 majors.
Zac Clohesy and Quade Johnstone have been the other main contributors on the scoreboard for Shepp, with 12 and 10 goals, respectively.
Down back, Andrew Riordan is one of the top defenders in the GVL, while youngster and former Murray Bushranger Bowen Calogero is also one of their standouts.
The Swans have had no trouble getting their hands on the footy this season — they rank fifth in disposals overall — but that hasn’t necessarily translated to points on the scoreboard.
They rank eighth overall in goals and total points for this season, and they are one of just three teams not to have a player with 15 goals or more this year.
The Swans’ kicking efficiency ranks second last in the league this season, while their handball efficiency ranks ninth.
