Rochester suffered a heavy scoreboard defeat to Mansfield at the weekend, being beaten comprehensively in the majority of statistical categories also.

Despite winning the clearances 35 to 26, the Tigers were unable to make use of their dominance at the stoppage, scoring 2.6 (18) to Mansfield’s 4.6 (30). They also failed to move the ball forward, losing the inside-50 count by 11.

Although they were unable to win first use of the ball, the Eagles were able to win it back, winning the intercept possession count by 23.

The visitors were also on top in most other areas, leading Rochester by 37 in the disposal count, while also beating them 129 to 115 in contested possessions.

The Tigers have been poor in both of those statistics all year, ranked 11th in the competition after round seven for both categories.

Despite having less of the ball, Rochy managed to turn it over 54 times as opposed to Mansfield coughing it up on 42 occasions, and allowed the Eagles to take five more uncontested marks (72 to 77).

Averaging 41 effective tackles per game, which is the second highest in the league, the Tigers recorded 50 against Mansfield to win the count by 18, while the overall pressure gauge also went the way of Rochy, 120 to 109.

Both sides were inaccurate in front of goal, although Mansfield fared slightly better, converting at 45 per cent compared to Rochester’s 44 per cent.
