Your ability to score off turnovers and hurt your opponents is fast becoming one of the key statistical areas in the modern game.

Melbourne won its 2021 AFL premiership off the back of its ability to score heavily from turnovers and at the other end, restricting opponents from scoring off turnovers.

So which of the Goulburn Valley League clubs are the most damaging at hurting opposition sides from errors after eight rounds?

It comes across as no surprise to see Echuca leading the way.

The reigning premier sits unbeaten on top of the ladder and has taken the rest of the competition to task, although Euroa did push them at the weekend in the grand final rematch.

The Murray Bombers have scored a whopping 575 points from turnovers in 2023 and have defended the best as well.

The powerhouse outfit has only leaked 169 points when it comes to sides scoring off its mistakes and average 21.12 points against from errors.

Interesting, the Murray Bombers are the third ranked team in the competition for turnovers.

Echuca scored 15.15 (105) from turnovers in round four against Shepparton Swans, with their opponents able to manage 0.4 (4) in reply.

The Swans are ranked eighth in the league for points scored off turnovers, while they are ranked 10th for conceding the most from turnovers.

Shepparton United sits last on the ladder, yet Duane Hueston’s charges are currently ranked seventh in the competition for their ability to score off turnovers with 259 points.

The Demons, who are ranked first for turnovers in the league, have conceded 380 points and are ninth in that area to have a differential of -121.

The Bulldogs currently have the second fewest turnovers in the competition with 446, with Mansfield (435) the best team at not creating turnovers.

Shepparton is last for most points scored from turnovers with 198.
