He’s a Jett: Trotter loves giving Shepparton United the Demons

Euroa achieved something it hadn’t done properly since round four at the weekend ― have a good old-fashioned field day in front of the sticks.

The Magpies piled on 40 total scoring shots against Shepparton United at Deakin Reserve, kicking 21.19 (145) in a complete washout to stamp their first 100-plus point total since April 29.

So, who was the opponent when Euroa last had the scoreboard working overtime?

Shepparton United.

It’s apparent the Magpies enjoy the company of Duane Hueston’s men and there’s one man in particular, who does his best work prowling among a navy and red-clad back six: Jett Trotter.

The full-forward was in scintillating form against United in round four with a five-goal haul, backing it up with another five in round 13.

Trotter’s 13 contested possessions from 29 touches was only bettered by teammate Max Gleeson (17), and his all-round game was excellent with Euroa’s number two chalking up ‘‘sevens’’ in the total ground ball gets, marks inside 50 and score involvement categories.

From a team perspective, the Magpies completely blotted out the hosts’ inside 50 count 66-35, also taking 27 marks inside 50 to the Demons’ six.

Which means someone other than Trotter was busy within the arc.

Adam Giobbi was the culprit, taking a whopping 10 marks inside 50 and matching his forward twin’s bag of five.

I’m not confident either of Trotter or Giobbi have watched the film 22 Jump Street, but to quote the 2014 action comedy, I’m sure they looked at each other after the game and thought “we’re like Batman and Robin, but we’re both Batman’’.

There’s one more piece of information about Euroa’s forwards stocks which is even more terrifying than the idea of Trotter and Giobbi bearing down on goal ― the Magpies are still missing Erish Uthayakumar and Tristan Davies, who both posted 40-plus goal seasons in 2022.

Now that’s sure to cause plenty of sleepless nights among Goulburn Valley League defenders.
