Trengove is Mooroopna’s treasure trove up forward

Mooroopna forward Jackson Trengove’s name should be among the top hits when plugging the word ‘’efficient’’ into an internet search bar after his weekend performance.

From the boundary looking on it was clear the 197cm Cat was a dominant force during his side’s 15.7 (97) to 5.9 (39) whooping of Mansfield, but a simple peek at the statistics reveals just how clinical the former Port Adelaide and Western Bulldogs man actually was.

In fact, a look at just two of the columns sums up his performance: seven disposals, six goals.

His sureness from the set shot was absurd, kicking true whenever he strode forward while also slamming the Sherrin home with equal prowess from open play.

Trengove’s one attempt which didn’t sail through the posts was not far off, and would have added to his tally if not for Eagles defender Bill Chiller lurking to mark the ball on the goal line.

Key stats

He topped the charts at the weekend for marks inside 50 with three, matched only by partner-in-crime Chris Nield.

Funnily enough, apart from his dispatching of chances with comical ease, Trengove did not feature heavily among Mooroopna’s general interplay, however, he did what good forwards do and took his opportunities.

His most prolific season in the AFL had him kick 17 goals from 19 games with a 0.9 average, but Trengove has been living the good life in country football as he currently tops the Goulburn Valley League goal-kicking charts with 26 from seven games.

Per game, the 32-year-old ranks elite in average scoring efficiency (207.1), score involvements (5.6), marks inside 50 (three), contested marks (1.4), goal assists (one) and goals (3.4).
