The Devenish Dookie and District Good Friday Appeal will hold its annual charity lamb and sheep auction this Friday, October 13, at Shepparton Regional Saleyards.

The hard-working DDDGFA team is dedicated to raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital, with its 2023 total of $120,248 placing it second highest of the state’s regional fundraisers this year.

All proceeds from Friday’s sale, which will start at 10am, will go towards the group’s 2024 Good Friday Appeal tally.

DDDGFA president Paul Durden said their success was thanks to the efforts of their volunteers and the community.

“We’ve got a lot of little towns that involve themselves, and when you look at what this community does and what we raised to be second on the regional tally board, that’s something for Dookie and Devenish District to be really proud of,” he said.

When asked what their secret to success was, Mr Durden said it was the volunteers’ and community’s hard work and efforts.

Fundraising efforts leading up to Good Friday 2023 included the annual lamb drive, a show and shine, a very successful online auction and yabby races.

Anyone wanting to donate lambs and sheep to this year’s auction can contact Buzz Schultz on 0429 863 629, Alan Shields on 0438 379 401 or Neil Lonie on 0427 644 366.

Donated stock can be dropped off at the Devenish Sports Ground between 8am and 3pm on Thursday, October 12.

All sheep and lambs donated must have the Vendor Declaration completed and written out to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
