'Lawyer X' Nicola Gobbo is expected to testify in her civil trial against Victoria Police from a secret location with her identity and image hidden from public view.
The barrister-turned-informer, who has been in hiding for years, is suing the State of Victoria for damages over claims police acted negligently when they "groomed" her into becoming a source.
Ms Gobbo's judge-alone civil trial began on Monday, with her lawyers informing the Supreme Court she will give evidence from a secret location.
Barrister Tim Tobin SC said Gobbo would not be attending court in person due to "issues of security associated with her image".
The court will organise for Ms Gobbo to appear via video link on Wednesday, but her image will only been shown to lawyers and the judge to ensure those watching online or attending court will not see her.

Mr Tobin and junior barrister Jessie Taylor have told the court the police groomed Ms Gobbo into becoming an informant by exploiting her vulnerabilities.
They claimed police offered Ms Gobbo protection, support and made her promises including that her identity would be protected in exchange for her providing information on her gangland clients.
The state is fighting each of Ms Gobbo's claims.
Ms Gobbo was registered three times as a police informer in the 1990s and early 2000s, when she gave handlers information about underworld figures.
A royal commission found her position as both informer and barrister could have affected more than 1000 convictions.Â
Former clients Tony Mokbel, Faruk Orman and Zlate Cvetanovski have successfully had convictions overturned since her role was uncovered in March 2019.
