A man has been extradited from Queensland to NSW and charged with murder after another man was assaulted on the state's far north coast earlier this month.
The 54-year-old victim died in Lismore Base Hospital on February 6, a day after being found unconscious and with serious head injuries in Ballina.
Police allege the 54-year-old was seriously assaulted inside a unit before leaving and collapsing outside.
Officers arrested a 50-year-old man in Cairns on Friday and he was remanded in custody.
NSW detectives travelled to Queensland and were granted his extradition to NSW.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station on Monday, charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on Tuesday.
On Monday a 44-year-old Ballina woman was charged with being accessory after the fact to murder and contravening an apprehended violence order.
The woman was refused bail to appear at Byron Bay Local Court on Tuesday.
