A teenager has been charged over a fatal crash on the Hume Hwy at Locksley on Wednesday, June 29.

A Benalla girl, 14, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and bailed to face a children’s court at a later date.

She was the driver of an allegedly stolen Holden Captiva car which collided with a truck on the highway near Alexandersons Rd about 8.30am.

The front passenger of the Holden, a Wodonga girl, 15, died at the scene.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

The other passenger, a boy, 12, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The truck driver, 45, from Tabilk was not injured and remained at the scene.

Police on Wednesday said the three children in the car were not related, but were believed to be friends.
