The Corowa RSL Club has awarded a $2,000 grant to the Corowa Pony Club to go towards the purchase of a secure round yard.

Formed in 1968, the club now boasts around 50 members from as young as two years of age.

As the club continues to expand and attract new novice riders, having a secure round yard will provide a safe and secure space to assist novice riders and green horses. It will also provide a safety barrier for the public to view and encourage young riders when visiting the club.

Pony Club Secretary Nancy Naughtin said without the support of the Corowa RSL Club and other organisations, the club would not be able to operate.

“We are a family club that very much relies on sponsorship,” she said.

“To have the continued financial support is fantastic and helps our club grow and exist for future generations.”

Corowa Pony Club has two rallies on the first and third Sundays of each month.

Located at the Corowa Race Club, they share these facilities with the race club and the show society as well as local community members who use the area as an exercise ground.

Corowa RSL Club CEO Peter Norris said they are delighted to support the Corowa Pony Club.

“These ClubGRANTS are just one of the many ways The Corowa RSL Club is able to provide support, services, and facilities for the betterment of our local community,” he said.

Each year through ClubGRANTS, clubs across NSW provide support to tens of thousands of local community organisations, sporting groups, and charities that make a difference in their local area. With more than $1 billion in funding provided since the program’s inception, ClubGRANTS is without doubt one of the largest and most effective grants programs in Australia. The program is made possible through the support of NSW clubs, local councils and the NSW Government.
