A $30 million development has been proposed for a five-floor residential hotel, conference centre and restaurant across the road from Shepparton’s Victoria Park Lake.

A planning permit application was submitted in late December by Dolce Vista Pty Ltd, for the vacant land at 517-523 Wyndham St — next to the former Pizza Hut site.

According to the application, the building would include a residential hotel at the northern wing, with 79 serviced rooms made up of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedrooms suites, a gym and a lobby.

The southern wing would have a ground-floor restaurant, multi-storey conference centre — with a ground-floor foyer and two levels of conference space — and office tenancy on the first floor.

The development proposal also includes 182 on-site car parking spaces and a roof garden.

The more-than 5000-square-metre site is in the Activity Centre Zone, has frontage on Wyndham St and backs on to the railway line.

“The subject site is within close proximity of various tourism and recreational facilities, including Shepparton Art Museum and Victoria Lake Park,” the application said.

“This will attract tourists to the subject site and thus promote business within the surrounding areas, supporting the social and economic sustainability of the project and locality.”

The application and other related documents are available on the Greater Shepparton City Council website.

Council will make a decision on the application after February 7.
