$350K boost for Shepparton’s history

The Local History Grants Program is now accepting grant applications for up to $15,000 as part of a $350,000 project to help preserve the region’s heritage.

State Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe is encouraging organisations to apply for a share and said the funding round was a fantastic opportunity for local groups to secure significant investment into their projects.

“Local history is precious to our community, and our local groups do an excellent job collecting, preserving and sharing our stories,” Ms O’Keeffe said.

“Katandra and District History Group Inc. was awarded $6205 from a previous grant round to produce From Adversity to Prosperity — The History of Katandra and District 1930-1960.

“Local schools, groups and sporting clubs have also been successful in getting investment to promote and record their histories and celebrate important milestones and anniversaries.

“$15,000 can go a long way, and I’m strongly encouraging local groups to make an application so that our stories can live on for generations.”

Applications are open until Monday, December 11, and can be submitted online at https://prov.vic.gov.au/community/grants-and-awards/local-history-grants-program
